US - Turkey eggs in incubators down 8 percent, report the National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS).Eggs in Incubators on January 1 Down 8 Percent
Turkey eggs in incubators on January 1, 2004, in the United States totaled 28.4 million, down
8 percent from January 1 a year ago.
Eggs in incubators were 1 percent below the December 2003 total of 28.6 million. Regional changes from the previous year were: East North Central, down 7 percent; West North Central, down 8 percent; North and South Atlantic, down 7 percent; South Central, down 8 percent; and West, down 12 percent.
Poults Placed During December Down 2 Percent From Last Year
The 23.4 million poults placed during December 2003 in the United States were down 2 percent
from the number placed during the same month a year ago.
Placements were up 6 percent from the November 2003 total of 22.2 million. Regional changes from the previous year were: East North Central, down 2 percent; West North Central, up slightly; North and South Atlantic, down 5 percent; South Central, up 1 percent; and West, down 10 percent.
