Tougher rules would protect poultry

DELAWARE - Delaware proposed stricter regulations Thursday designed to protect the state's $494 million poultry industry from avian flu. The rules would affect even those who raise small backyard flocks. However, they are designed primarily to give the state more authority to monitor poultry growers who specialize in raising chickens for sale at live bird markets.
