Monthly US Turkey Hatchery Report
US - Turkey eggs in incubators down 1%, report the National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS).
Eggs in Incubators on January 1 Down 1 Percent
Turkey eggs in incubators on January 1, 2005, in the United States totaled 28.2 million, 1 percent
below January 1 a year ago. Eggs in incubators were 2 percent above the December 1, 2004 total of
27.7 million eggs.
Regional changes from the previous year were: East North Central down
2 percent, West North Central up 1 percent, North and South Atlantic down 3 percent, South
Central down 4 percent, and West up 8 percent.
Poults Placed During December Down 5 Percent From Last Year
The 22.2 million poults placed during December 2004 in the United States were down 5 percent
from the number placed during the same month a year ago. Placements were down slightly from
November 2004.
Regional changes from the previous year were: East North Central down
10 percent, West North Central down 3 percent, North and South Atlantic down 9 percent, South
Central down slightly, and West up 8 percent.
