NFSCo in for more criticism

UK - The Farmers Union of Wales has accused the National Fallen Stock Company of "a disgraceful breach of confidentiality".

Susan Jones, executive officer of the union's Montgomeryshire branch, claims that when a member received written acknowledgement of his registration for the Fallen Stock Scheme, the envelope also contained a Devon farmer's banking details.

"The member registered by telephone and was horrified when his membership confirmation came in the post to find that corresponding information about another applicant was attached," said Mrs Jones.

He contacted the company and was advised to destroy it. He was assured that a duplicate would be sent to the West Country farmer.

"This is just not good enough at a time when we are all being urged to take great care to prevent our personal and financial information falling into the hands of fraudsters."
