Bulgaria Bans Poultry Import from Greece

BULGARIA - Bulgaria will cease the import of live poultry, eggs and raw poultry products from the Kilkis prefecture in Greece, the Bulgarian Agriculture Minister Nihat Kabil ordered on Tuesday.

The ban is imposed due to spotted cases of so-called Newcastle disease in that region.

The Director General of the Bulgarian National Veterinary Service will be responsible for keeping the order.

A few months ago cases of the same disease were registered on the territory of Bulgaria in the village of Radino, near Kardzhali, and the export of live poultry and poultry products were temporarily banned.
