Chickens sell well in local markets

VIETNAM - The local chicken market has recently made a comeback after a long gloomy period due to the bird flu as companies have reported booming sales thanks to the implementation of strict measures to ensure safe poultry.

Consumers have mainly bought chickens at stores and supermarkets where reputable suppliers guarantee safe products, said traders.

Phu An Sinh Company reportedly sells some 2,500 to 3,000 chickens a day at its chain stores. “We operate a modern slaughtering line for our poultry. Also, we offer maximum compensations of 100 million VND to any customer who buys unsafe chicken,” said company director Pham Van Minh.

To meet the increasing demand for safe chickens, the company also plans to open a new store and boost its farming, said Mr. Minh.
