Poultry leaping large in Kashmir - KASHMIR - Poultry Development Department R S Pura is engaged in the promotion of poultry industry, especially with the objective of helping the poor, unemployed youth and breeders from rural background in establishing small and medium poultry units with minimum investment.

The R S Pura unit is also providing free training in poultry rearing and management by providing high quality chicks at competitive, lowest rates and also provide after care health coverage to the poultry flocks free of cost.

During the last financial year, 218 units of backyard poultry were established involving about Rs. 40000. Moreover, 11642 day-old broiler chicks were produced during the period with financial involvement of Rs. 93000, while so far during the current financial year, 612 such chicks were produced by utilizing Rs. 5400.

During the last financial year, 82000 vaccinations were done while 5000 birds were brought under health coverage. Moreover, 6100 dosing have been administered against intestinal worms to these poultry birds.
