With this new innovation, Vencomatic is the first to enter the Duck market with a system to collect the eggs automatically.

Important is the hygiene of the nest. Traditionally gathered eggs are often dirty and have to be washed. The construction of the Duck Nest improves this hygiene, which results in eggs not have to be washed. Eggs are carefully transported to a central location in the house with an egg belt.

The nest has proven to be very attractive for the Duck. In the test houses, percentages of floor eggs were significantly lower than the compared traditional houses. To prevent the ducks to stay in the nest at night, and also to prevent broodiness, the nests are equipped with a moveable backwall which pushes the birds out when the nest closes.

A ramp to the nest is created with Vencoslat, a plastic poultry slat of Vencomatic. The oval holes of the slat give the ducks enough leg support to feel good ‘wiggling’ over the slat. Because of the open structure a good manure transfer is assured, which creates a clean surface in front of the nest. Also fertilisation is still good with the plastic slats, the females are even fertilised at the slat.
