Monthly US Turkey Hatchery Report - US - Turkey eggs in incubators down 1%, report the National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS).

Eggs in Incubators on September 1 Down 1 Percent From Last Year

Turkey eggs in incubators on September 1, 2005, in the United States totaled 28.0 million, 1 percent below September 1 a year ago. Eggs in incubators were also 8 percent below the August 1, 2005 total of 30.4 million eggs. Regional changes from the previous year were: East North Central down 3 percent, West North Central up 1 percent, North and South Atlantic up 1 percent, South Central down 24 percent, and West up 12 percent.

Poults Placed During August Down Slightly From Last Year

The 23.6 million poults placed during August 2005 in the United States were down slightly from the number placed during the same month a year ago. Placements were down 4 percent from July 2005. Regional changes from the previous year were: East North Central up 7 percent, West North Central up 1 percent, North and South Atlantic up 3 percent, South Central down 11 percent, and West down 17 percent.
