HCMC says no to small-scale poultry raising

VIETNAM - The Ho Chi Minh City authorities have called on local people to halt household poultry raising from now through July 28, 2007 as part of the city's efforts to prevent bird flu from re-occurring.

Also, the municipal administration asked suburbanites to put an end to free-range poultry production.

Regarding poultry product businesses, the city plans to provide small traders with zero percent interest loans of 15 million VND each to purchase refrigerators.

As of September 15, all traders who do not possess refrigerators must cease operations.
