April Egg and Layer Numbers Down From A Year Ago
Hawaii egg production totaled 8.3 million (23,056 cases) in April
2006, down 12 percent from April 2005. The average number of
layers on hand during April 2006 was estimated at 461,000, down 9
percent from a year ago. Also contributing to the decline in the total
number of eggs produced in April was a 3 percent drop in the
average rate of lay to 1,800 per 100 layers.
