Brazil's Sadia to supply Russian McDonald's with chicken

SAO PAULO - Brazil's largest chicken company, Sadia (SDA), said Thursday that its new chicken meat processing plant in Russia will produce chicken sandwich meat for McDonald's Corp. (MCD).

Sadia's investor's relations office said on Friday that the company has a similar contract with McDonald's in other countries to prepare McDonald's "crispy chicken" and "grilled chicken" sandwiches.

McDonald's Russia and E.U. offices were not available for comment.

Sadia's $70 million Russian investment is part of a joint venture with Russian food company Miratorg, which will own 40% of the Sadia facility, Brazil business daily Valor Economica reported on Friday.

Details of the McDonald's deal are still being finalized, Sadia Chief Financial Officer Luiz Murat told analysts on Thursday.
