Intervet appoints Ellen de Brabander as a member of the company’s Executive Committee

THE NETHERLANDS - Intervet, Akzo Nobel’s veterinary pharma business, announces that Ellen de Brabander – van den Berg (43) has been appointed as a member of Intervet’s Executive Committee, effective October 1, 2006. Ellen de Brabander will succeed Klaus Olbers in the function of Vice President Research & Development.

Klaus Olbers has enjoyed a 32 year career in our veterinary business in various management positions. He will put his experience into service of Nobilon, Akzo Nobel’s international business on human vaccines in a consulting role.

Ellen de Brabander joined Intervet in August 2006. After finishing her study in Chemistry at Leiden University and gaining her PhD Ms de Brabander was engaged at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (M.I.T.). She has received a number of awards for her achievements in research a.o. the Golden Medal of the Dutch Royal Chemical Society. In 1991 she started at DSM Research Laboratories, Geleen, The Netherlands. After a successful career in different management positions both in performance materials as well as in pharma she was appointed Vice President Corporate Technology at DSM.
