Central chairman of PPA, Mir Tahir Ali Zaidi said this while addressing a press conference here on Thursday. Chairman PPA Punjab Zone Shahid Dar, Convenor consumer association, Iftikhar Hussain Bukhari and other officials were also present.

The PPA chairman said that fixing of support price for the said crops would help stabilise the poultry feed prices because the feed price contributes 80 per cent to the poultry prices. He also urged the government to facilitate the poultry industry for exporting hatching eggs to Middle Eastern countries.

He said recent drop in price of day old broiler chicks and live broilers is resulting in capital drain of millions of rupees every day. For the first time in the history of commercial poultry farming in Pakistan, millions of broiler hatching eggs are being sold as table eggs every day at 50 per cent of the production cost.

“High fuel and energy prices have also increased production cost which has put an extra burden on broiler producers,” he said.
