Thai health dept offers course to cull chickens hygienically

THAILAND - The deputy-director general of the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration’s (BMA) health department, Prasarn Bamrungphan revealed that BMA has arranged training sessions aimed to provide knowledge about hygienic poultry killing to prevent the spread of bird flu during the Chinese New Year festival.

BMA has also launched measures to prevent another round of pandemic. The BMA has dispatched officials to inspect poultry slaughterhouses to make sure that they meet hygienic standards set by BMA.

There are 52 poultry slaughterhouses in Bangkok. 180,000 domesticated fowls are slaughtered daily.
