“We received a request from poultry industry this week that the futures be banned. We are studying the request,” Pawar said in the lower house of the Parliament in New Delhi. “We will apply our mind and take a proper decision.”

India has made imports of corn duty-free and banned exports by private traders to check a surge in prices and boost supplies amid a production shortage. Production may decline 15% to 12.8 million metric tonne this year, according to the All India Starch Association.
