Announced at the 45th International Egg Commission Conference held last month in Budapest, Hungary, the Australian Egg Corporation Limited (AECL) received the Golden Egg Award ahead of 56 egg-producing countries.

The Golden Egg Award is presented by the International Egg Commission to the country with the best marketing techniques, publicity, sales, promotion and results.

The last time the Australian Egg Corporation received the award was during its first year of operation in 2004. This is the first time that one country has been awarded the Golden Egg in the space of four years since the award’s inception in 1971.

James Kellaway, Managing Director of the Australian Egg Corporation said “winning the coveted Golden Egg Award twice in four years brings global awareness to the Australian Egg Corporation’s promotional programs. Our educational and marketing initiatives are now considered by the international egg community to be the best in the world.”

The Australian Egg Corporation is committed to educating Australian consumers about the ease and simplicity of egg – reinvigorating people’s emotions associated with eggs, which contain important nutrients necessary for a healthy diet and debunking long held myths about cholesterol.

Egg farmers established the Australian Egg Corporation four years ago. In that time the number of egg consumed has increased from an average of 140 per person to more than 170 per person.

The Australian Egg Corporation’s new advertising campaign, currently appearing in national magazines, highlights the convenience of eggs as a meal solution.

“Eggs are versatile and easy to prepare for every meal occasion. A range of simple, healthy and quick egg recipes should be part of every culinary repertoire – no matter how busy your lifestyle,” concluded Mr Kellaway.
