"This new program will address such issues as labor needs, employee training, personnel retention, risk assessment and affordable insurance."

With industry input, the department also will identify and maintain informational resources that address key industry issues. The institute will be headed by the vice president-risk management, education and training, who will provide overall strategic management for the institute and USPOULTRY’s seminar programs.

“Prior to launching The Poultry & Egg Institute, we talked with industry leaders to assess their needs,” said USPOULTRY President Don Dalton. “This new program will address such issues as labor needs, employee training, personnel retention, risk assessment and affordable insurance. It will provide a resource for companies who do not have the staff to address these topics and also complement our existing educational programs.”

USPOULTRY’s current educational programs deliver the skills and training members and nonmembers need to succeed in today’s competitive marketplace. These programs, which are planned with industry input, cover every management function, including production, processing, financial management, and human resources. When a new industry challenge arises, USPOULTRY develops special courses to meet the educational and training demands of the industry.
