ESTONIA - The Tallegg poultry producer in Estonia has confirmed an outbreak of Newcastle disease at its Tellivere-Kulli farm near Tallinn, according to the LETA news agency.

The company started killing chickens immediately after confirmation of the disease was received from a laboratory in the United Kingdom in early November. The farm has six chicken houses with a total of approximately 200,000 birds.

Teet Soorm, Tallegg's CEO, told a press conference that Tallegg's chickens are insured, and added that eggs account for 14 per cent of the company's turnover.
