Inaugurating a mobile outlet launched by the Kerala State Poultry Development Corporation (KSPDC) in Thiruvananthapuram on 19 September, he called on the Animal Husbandry Department, Kerala Livestock Development Board and KSPDC to pool their resources and use their land to step up production of poultry products.

The Minister said 80 per cent of the demand for chicken was met by neighbouring states.

Many hotels, he said, were forced to buy meat processed in unhygienic conditions. He added that the mechanised processing facility at the KSPDC outlet at Pettah would soon be introduced at Kudappanakunnu.

He said the mobile outlet would help the KSPDC to reach out to customers in apartment complexes, hotels and colonies with hygienically packed and branded meat.

The function was presided over by V. Sivankutty, MLA, reports The Hindu.
