British Lion eggs have found their 'Eggs Factor' champion – Vicky Nowak from the Wirral was crowned the 'face of eggs' at a thrilling final in London after a six-month search by the egg industry.

The eight finalists cooked a signature egg dish and completed the challenge of demonstrating a perfect omelette in five minutes in front of a panel of judges, including celebrity chef Paul Merrett.

Vicky walked away with the winner’s cheque of £5,000 and Gary Parsons from Wallington, Surrey was the runner-up, winning £1,000.

A series of cook-offs across the UK whittled the 500 entrants down to eight finalists, including a Slimming World consultant from Tyne & Wear, the owner of a courier firm from Doncaster and a supermarket boss from Leicester. However, it was Vicky's family orientated home cooking and sparkling personality that made her stand out from the crowd.

The winning dish was smoked salmon carbonarish, with the runner-up creating poached egg on a toasted muffin with buttered spinach, cockles and bacon lardons.

Lucy Egerton, a British Lion eggs spokesperson said, "We have been stunned by the innovative cooking and passion shown throughout the competition. The versatility of eggs and the vibrant personalities of the contestants have made the judging incredibly difficult, but Vicky was a much deserved winner."
