Biosecurity in Focus at Salmonella Seminar in Hungary
HUNGARY - Aviagen Kft, part of Aviagen, the world’s leading poultry breeding company, recently teamed up with the Hungarian Poultry Product Board, the Central Agricultural Office of Animal Health and the Animal Welfare Directorate in Budapest to hold a seminar to emphasise the need for strict biosecurity. The seminar was attended by representatives from all parts of the poultry industry, including official state veterinarians, practicing veterinarians from large poultry integrators, major vaccine producers and suppliers, disinfectant distributors and nutritionists and was held with the purpose of reinforcing the need for rigid plans to prevent the spread of diseases like Salmonella to be put in place at all poultry facilities throughout Hungary. Speakers from Aviagen, the affiliated laboratories of the Hungarian Ministry of Agriculture and the European Commission offered practical tips on implementing biosecurity procedures and advice on how to prevent or manage Salmonella outbreaks.
The general manager of Aviagen Kft, Nick Spenceley, commented: “Aviagen has incredibly strict biosecurity procedures and we are dedicated to supplying stock of the highest possible health status. It is important that we work closely with bodies like the Hungarian Poultry Product Board and the Ministry of Agriculture to inform the industry of the most effective ways in preventing disease outbreaks, in order to help all Hungarian poultry farmers maximise the potential of their products. The lively round table discussion that took place after the presentations clearly demonstrated the importance the industry places on events such as these and the subject of disease prevention plans.”
