One New Case of Bird Flu in West Bengal

INDIA - The veterinary authorities have informed the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE) about one new outbreak of highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) in West Bengal.

The Indian authorities have sent Follow Up Report No. 8 to OIE, reporting one new outbreak of HPAI.

The new outbreak was in Harirampur, in Dakshin Dinajpur district of West Bengal. There were 35 birds affected in a rural backyard flock of 1500 birds.

The presence of the H5N1 virus sub-type was confirmed.
