BELGIUM - The veterinary authorities have reported a new case of Newcastle disease (ND) in pigeons to the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE).

The Belgian veterinary authority sent Follow up Report No 1. to OIE dated 5 June.

It describes a single outbreak of Newcastle disease in a hobby flock of 64 ornamental pigeons at Neufvilles in the province of Hainaut. Two birds were affected, and one died. The source of infection was the introduction of new birds to the flock. The first symptoms were seen on early May, and the whole flock (except four young birds) were vaccinated in mid-May.
