Shell Eggs Broken Down 5 Per Cent from Last Year
US - Shell eggs broken totaled 169 million dozen during May 2009, down five per cent from the same month a year ago, according to the USDA's National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS) in their monthly Egg Products report in June 2009.

Shell eggs broken totaled 169 million dozen during May 2009, down five per cent from May a year ago but two per cent more than the 166 million broken last month.
May 2009 contained 21 weekdays (including one holiday) and five Saturdays. May 2008 contained 22 weekdays (including one holiday) and five Saturdays.
During calendar year 2009 through May, shell eggs broken totaled 806 million dozen, down four per cent from the comparable period in 2008. To date, cumulative total edible product from eggs broken in 2009 was 1,055 million pounds, down four per cent from 2008.
