In the businesses of livestock farming, veterinarians and farmers go together like a fork and knife. The health and well-being of livestock are very much dependent on the level of communication and understanding between both vet and farmer.

Building this bridge of understanding through open dialogue and networking, the International Animal Health Event is a 'must' for veterinarians, farmers and anyone whose work involves contact with livestock and food producing animals. Jointly organised by DLG, the German Association of Veterinary Practitioners, bpt (Bundesverband Praktizierender Tierärzte) and the Foundation for the University of Veterinary Medicine in Hanover, the International Animal Health event is a unique get-together and the only one of its kind reaching out specifically to vets and farmers at EuroTier 2010.

Held in conjunction with the bpt Congress 2010, the evening's programme will begin at 18:30hr on Thursday 18 November with an address by Dr Hans-Joachim Götz, president of the bpt. This will be followed by a presentation by Dr Alexander Müller, assistant director-general of the Food and Agriculture Organisation, who will share on the effect of climate change on the future of animal health. Included also in the programme is an Akademie für Tiergesundheit sponsorship award, with light snacks and networking session rounding up the evening.

There will be simultaneous translation provided in German and English throughout the programme.
