Sponsored by US Poultry & Egg Association and the American Feed Industry Association, the world's largest poultry and feed event will be held on 26 to 28 January 2011 at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta.

Donnie Smith has 30 years of experience in the food industry. He joined Tyson in 1980 and has served in a variety of responsibilities, including live production, purchasing and supply chain, group vice president of consumer products, and senior group vice president of poultry and prepared foods. Mr Smith was named CEO in November 2009. He received a BS degree in animal science from the University of Tennessee.

"Sustainability encompasses a wide range of issues that impact the long-term progress and success of our industry," said programme committee co-chairman, Kevin Igli of Tyson Foods. "So, in addition to the Summit's previous emphasis on environmental issues, this year's programme is being expanded to cover other areas such as the social and economic arenas throughout animal agriculture – people, planet, profit."

"The poultry industry and animal agriculture have long emphasized the importance of environmental stewardship and sustainability," added co-chairman Fred Cespedes, American Proteins. "Our industry has led the way in developing technology and management practices to enhance our future success. The Summit will take a close look at the latest tools and ideas to perpetuate sustainability."

The Summit will begin at 13:00hr on Tuesday 25 January 25 with a series of presentations on 'The Triple Bottom Line – People, Planet, Profit'. The programme will continue Wednesday morning with the keynote address by Mr Smith and other industry leaders discussing the importance of corporate sustainability efforts.
