Bhutan Continues Ban on Poultry from Nepal

BHUTAN - The government has renewed its ban on import of poultry and poultry products from Nepal as a precaution against the spread of highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI).

According to a statement from the Ministry of Agriculture and Forests of the Royal Government of Bhutan:

"Based on the report submitted by Nepal to the OIE on 05/12/2010, the Bird Flu situation is still not resolved due to which the Ministry hereby reinforces the ban on import of poultry and poultry products from Nepal until further order.

"This announcement supersedes the earlier announcement on the ban lifting issued on 2nd December 2010.

"This announcement is issued for the information of the general public particularly the importers of poultry and poultry products."
