Eight HPAI Outbreaks Reported in Viet Nam

VIET NAM - The Vietnamese veterinary authorities have reported eight new outbreaks of highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) in the country.

The World Organisation for Animal Health received follow-up report no. 48 yesterday, 30 March.

A total of 14943 birds were found susceptible to the disease, out of which 8342 cases and 5147 deaths were recorded. The remaining 6140 birds were destroyed.

Introduction of new live animals, illegal movement of animals and fomites from humans, vehicles, feed, etc. have been determined as the main causes of the outbreak.
