Ukrainian Checks on Poultry Meet EU Standards

UKRAINE - The country's veterinary authorities are able to ensure poultry products safety, according to a report by the European Commission, opening the possibility of Ukrainian exports of poultry meat to EU countries in future.

The European Commission believes that the Ukrainian veterinary service is able to ensure the safety of poultry products, chief of the State Veterinary and Phytosanitary Service of Ukraine, Ivan Bisyuk, has said.

National Radio Company of Ukraine reports Mr Bisyuk saying that Ukraine has received European Commission's conclusion on the results of the inspection of a poultry production safety system.

The European Commission had minor remarks to domestic poultry businesses that need to be resolved to obtain the right to export products to the EU. In 2010. experts with the European Commission's Directorate General for Health and Consumer Policy (DG SANCO) re-inspected Ukrainian producers of poultry products to consider a possibility for them to get the right to supply products to European markets.
