Major Expansion Project on Track
BELGIUM - Petersime's new production unit and logistical facility have been completed, and work on its new Customer Centre is ongoing.New production facility fully operational
The new Petersime production facility was completed according to schedule in May 2010. It covers more than 4,000 square metres. Since the growing demand for the company's new S-line incubators requires maximum production capacity, the new unit was immediately put into service.
Faster loading and shipping
The next step in Petersime's expansion plan was the construction of a new logistical facility with eight loading docks and adequate pre-shipping storage capacity. This new facility entered into service on 17 May. It boasts two new logistical areas:
- an area with five loading docks dedicated to shipments of incubators, and
- a second area specifically designed and built to receive, inspect, store, pack and ship HVAC equipment and other hatchery project equipment
Throughput capacity increased instantly and the waiting time for trucks and containers has shortened dramatically.
Site preparations for new Customer Centre
The building projects also include the creation of a state-of-the-art Customer Centre. To make way for this development, we demolished the original 60-year-old Petersime factory, which was our first production facility in Belgium. This was done after the summer holidays. Although this facility had served the company well, the time had come to modernise our premises.
The new state-of-the-art Petersime Customer Centre will consist of a modern 840-square metre, two-storey building. It will house the new showroom, including a demonstration room where the latest incubators, HVAC and energy-saving technologies will be on display.
The Customer Centre will also house the customer training facilities and the Internal Sales and Service Departments.
