Stock Plzen is trying to find its own source of eggs because of their rising cost, according to Czech Position.

The company that produces a variety of brandies, rums, vodkas and its herbal bitters said it could join forces with an existing producer or even build production facilities itself.

The company has said it had been hit hard by rising local egg prices which have tripled in recent weeks.

Stock Plzen uses around 30 tonnes of eggs a month, which it uses in its vanilla egg liqueur, Božkov Vajecny.

According to the report, the company believes it can sustain the rise in prices temporarily, but it would face difficulties if the high prices remain.

The prices of eggs have risen in the Czech republic because of the ban on imports from some EU states that have failed to implement the ban on battery cages, including Poland one of the Czech Republic's main suppliers.
