Moark Donates Over 1M Eggs in Time for Easter Holiday

US - Moark, LLC, a Land O'Lakes subsidiary, this week donated more than 1 million eggs to nine food banks across the United States.

For the fifth year in a row, egg producers and Feeding America's network of food banks are teaming up in the fight against hunger, with producers donating millions of eggs to help make sure America's food banks are well stocked with this high-protein, nutritious food.

The eggs are being distributed among the following food banks:

  • Los Angeles Regional Food Bank, 260,000 eggs
  • Second Harvest Food Bank, San Bernardino, 43,200 eggs
  • Greater Boston Food Bank, 288,000 eggs
  • St. Louis Area Food Bank, 288,000 eggs
  • Ozarks Food Harvest, Springfield, Missouri, 54,000 eggs
  • Connecticut Food Bank, 96,000 eggs
  • Connecticut Foodshare, 96,000 eggs
  • Gemma E. Moran United Way / Labor Food Center, New London, Connecticut, 96,000 eggs
  • Good Shepherd Food Bank, Auburn, Maine, 288,000 eggs

"We are grateful for this generous donation of eggs. It is important to be able to provide protein to our families, including the 400,000 children, we serve every year," said Michael Flood, President and CEO of the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank.

Moark's contribution marks the second egg donation in the third year of the First Run program. As part of the First Run program, Land O'Lakes and its subsidiaries have committed to donating truckloads of fresh product to food banks quarterly to help alleviate hunger nationwide.

First Run contributions in the first quarter of 2012 included donations of nearly 40,000 pounds of Land O Lakes® American Cheese in 5 pound loaves to Gleaners Food Bank of Indiana, Inc., Food Bank of Northeast Arkansas and Food Bank for the Heartland in Omaha, Nebraska.

"The First Run program provides a unique opportunity for Land O'Lakes and its subsidiaries to provide fresh, nutritious products to families who can enjoy them."
