Broiler prices went up by Rs 35 and quoted between Rs 116 and Rs 125 a kg, while chick sold at Rs 32-34 a kg, Rs 10 up. Egg prices rose further by 12 paise and sold at Rs 3.55.

To reap better margins, poultry farmers have started selling broilers after letting the broiler a little heavier, resulting in low supplies in the market, said market sources.

With good domestic demand, poultry farmers are getting good demand from Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Delhi, too.

Meanwhile, with the cost of production being steady, prices of poultry feed products remained unchanged.

Aditya Mishra, an expert, told The Hindu Business Line that good demand and steady input cost have kept feed prices unchanged and may continue to rule around current levels for the next few days.

Soyameal prices were quoted at Rs 2,800 a quintal. Bajra sold at Rs 1,380 a quintal and maize at Rs 1,570. Di-calcium phosphate sold at Rs 35.50 a kg, while rice bran oil was quoted at Rs 55 a kg.
