Another Outbreak of Newcastle Disease in Cyprus
CYPRUS - Cyprus has reported another outbreak of Newcastle disease in Lefkosia.The World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE) received follow-up report no 4 yesterday (17 July).
The report states that the latest outbreak occurred on 27 June at a backyard holding consisting of 27 laying hens and 16 broilers and APMV-1 was isolated on 11 July 2013.
A total of 43 birds showed signs of susceptibility, out of which 27 cases were reported. No deaths were recorded. However, all 43 birds were destroyed.
The source of the outbreaks has still not yet been determined.
