OIE Declares Australia Free of LPAI

AUSTRALIA - The World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE) reports that Australia has not had any new outbreaks of low pathogenic avian influenza (LPAI), serotype H5N3, outbreaks.

The OIE received follow-up report no. 3 on 27 June.

According to the report, cleaning and disinfection were completed on 15 March 2013.

Laboratory tests have shown that the virus is of Australian lineage.

Appropriate surveillance has been completed to demonstrate that the outbreak of LPNAI in ducks has been contained and eradicated.

The source of the outbreak(s) remains inconclusive.
