According to The Nation, the Welfare Society members said that they would not accept any fish or poultry market in the area as it would cause foul smells and pollute the environment which was tantamount to violating basic rights of the citizens.

The members decided to challenge the decision of the local government in the court of competent jurisdiction. They said Lahore DCO decided to establish this project in their area but it already was rejected by MNA Mehr Ishtiaq Ahmad and MPA Mian Marghoob Ahmad. MPA Mian Marghoob Ahmad assured the society his full support on the issue.

Welfare Society President Saeed Aasi also condemned the act of district government and said that old slaughter house was shifted outside the city due to the efforts of the society.

Welfare Society members including Muhammad Afzal Khan, Sheikh Muhamamd Altaf, Muhammad Afzal, Muhammad Arshad and Mian Muhammad Riaz and large number of other people took part in the meeting.
