Avicola El Monte Celebrates 50th Anniversary with Hy-Line in South America

CHILE - In late April 2014, Chilean egg industry leaders gathered in Santiago to commemorate the 50-year anniversary of Avícola El Monte, S.A. and Hy-Line International’s partnership. Avicola El Monte began to distribute Hy-Line chicks in Chile in 1963.

Dr José Miguel Correa, director of Avicola El Monte opened the ceremony with a speech praising the work and vision of his father and partners who founded the company more than 50 years ago. He also expressed his gratitude to their customers for their loyal support of their company through the years.

In addition, James Abad of the Latin American Poultry Association shared the group’s most recent promotional efforts to increase egg consumption in the region while Dr Casey Ritz of the University of Georgia made a presentation on sustainable use of poultry production byproducts through the composting process during the half-day meeting.

Hy-Line President Jonathan Cade said: “Avicola El Monte’s commitment to quality products and their customer service make us proud to be their partner. It is important that Hy-Line International has strategic partners who have made strong growth and have had success.”

Hy-Line’s International Director of Sales and Marketing, Thomas Dixon, added: “Hy-Line International has had a long, close relationship with the Correa family and Avicola El Monte through two generations and 50 years. We are fortunate to have such a strong partner in Chile that serves the market with quality chicks and represents Hy-Line with integrity. We look forward to continuing this relationship far into the future.”

Avicola El Monte currently serves a majority share of the Chilean layer chick market, which includes both white and brown egg layers.
