A letter has been sent to the Thai Embassy in Seoul communicating South Korea’s desires to import as the fifth step of an eight step procedure.

Remaining stages, which include disease control, testing and certification of butcheries and slaughterhouses, are expected to reach completion in June.

South Korea banned Thai frozen poultry when imposing ban after the US bird flu outbreak last December. Most chicken comes from Brazil, which takes 40 days, as opposed to ten days from South Korea.
