Indian poultry exports to get boost with ban on growth drugs

INDIA, 4 December 2018 - A government move to ban the use of strong antibiotics in poultry farms could help insulate animal product exporters from international criticism on drug contamination

The move follows reports earlier in the year which uncovered that poultry meat from India contained colistin, one of the "last resort" antibiotics and a call from the World Health Organization (WHO) asking member states to restrict the use of antibiotics critical to human medicine in animals.
