It has been reported that in Saudi Arabia, in 2015, local production of broilers only covered 42 percent of the local demand. Exorbitant imported poultry feed prices and a seasonal surge in demand results in soaring prices of poultry meat and eggs in the Middle East and North Africa region. In addition, the continued threat posed by a wide range of diseases in the region such as Avian Influenza (AI), Infectious Laryngotracheitis and Newcastle Disease severely affects production.

Achieving self-sufficient production through reducing dependency on imported feed, efficiently controlling and treating diseases, comprehending and dealing with market fluctuations and increasing animal performance is the need of the hour in the region.
