Poultry health experts will gather in person for 2022 AAAP meeting
AAAP runs Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA July 29 to Aug. 2Poultry health professionals from throughout the world will gather in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Jul. 29 to Aug. 2, to discuss the latest research, innovations and insights on poultry health.
The American Association of Avian Pathologists (AAAP) annual meeting will cover a broad spectrum of poultry health topics, including disease management, biosecurity, diagnostics, responsible antibiotic usage and food safety.
Of particular interest this year is high pathogenicity avian influenza (HPAI), and many sessions will delve into the virus’s spread and pathogenicity, along with control measures and new research findings. For example, the keynote for this session is on the global evolution and intercontinental spread of H5Nx clade 2344b HPAI viruses since 2020, given by David Swayne, DVM, PhD, with the US Department of Agriculture.
“Our program committee has made a particular effort to include a lot of speakers on HPAI sprinkled throughout the program,” said Nathan Bevans-Kerr, executive director for AAAP.
