EU chicken consumption set to rise in 2026
Demand grows as consumers favour affordable poultry
Domestic consumption of chicken meat in the European Union is expected to increase by 1.4% in CY 2026 as both retail sales and consumption in the HRI sector will continue to increase, according to the most recent USDA FAS poultry report for Europe.
Over the longer term, chicken meat consumption is expected to continue growing as consumer
preferences continue to favor chicken over other animal protein sources.
Chicken meat is generally more affordable than other meats. European consumers also generally consider chicken meat to be healthier, more versatile, and easier to prepare.
