The company already shook up the broiler industry some years ago with the introduction of the Vencomatic Broiler System, a multi tier row system for housing broilers. This year Vencomatic will introduce the Patio system to the international poultry industry.

Patio system

The system is designed for bringing in pre-hatched eggs, hatching the eggs in the system and housing the young birds until approximately 10 days of life. After this, the birds will be transported to traditional broiler houses. Each row of the system contains several levels where the young broilers will be housed. The broilers are placed on a manure belt, with which they can also be transported out of the house. Vencomatic developed the system and recently installed the first house, together with feed manufacturer Agrifirm from the Netherlands, at research centre ‘Het Spelderholt’ of the Animal Sciences Group in Lelystad.

Excellent conditions

Because the new system is specially designed around the needs of the young bird, it gives excellent conditions for a good health and welfare for the housed birds. Immediately after the birds are hatched, they get access to feed and water. The special ventilation system gives a good climate for the bird and also allows the house to be warmed up easily, which will give significant energy savings to the poultry manager.

Efficiency in existing houses

With the system Vencomatic is aiming to the broiler growing companies, who want to increase their broiler production. Placing the Patio system next to existing broiler houses, companies can reduce their cycle times in these houses. In this way companies will be able to increase output with approximately 25%.

Vencomatic will introduce the new system at VIV Europe, by showing the chicks getting out of the pre-hatched eggs on the system with a ‘live’ connection to ‘Het Spelderholt’.
