New Case of Newcastle Disease in Israel

ISRAEL - A new case of Newcastle disease has been reported to the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE).

The Israeli veterinary authority sent an Immediate Notification dated 2 February to OIE.

It reports an outbreak of Newcastle disease starting the previous day at Ramla in Haifa. Of the 135,000 broilers on the farm, around 3,000 birds in one house were affected, and about 1,000 died.

According to the report, the birds were 25-day-old broilers located in four poultry houses on one farm. The disease has been detected in one poultry house only. All the animals in the four houses have been destroyed.

The last case of Newcastle disease in the country was on 25 January.
